Consisting of four full service German shepherd dogs and handlers, each K-9 team is utilized in searching for suspects or missing persons, clearing business compounds and buildings, detaining violent criminals, detecting narcotics, and evidence recovery.

Special Weapons and Tactics

The Leesburg Police Department participates in the Mid-Florida SWAT team, which is comprised of members from Leesburg, Mount Dora, Groveland, Eustis and Clermont Police Departments and is classified as a Tier 2 team per NTOA standards

Criminal Investigations

Detectives assigned to this division are responsible for the investigation of all felony crimes and other specialized investigations.
