Ongoing training and education are crucial for the growth of both the Department and its members, ensuring they are well-equipped to better serve the needs of the community. Each year, department personnel—both sworn and non-sworn—participate in various training programs to maintain their proficiency and further develop their skills and abilities. Some of these trainings are mandatory and required for officers to maintain their certification, such as those mandated by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. Other training opportunities focus on improving operational effectiveness, efficiency, and keeping current with legal changes and emerging trends in the profession.

The Leesburg Police Department is dedicated to fostering professional growth and ensuring our officers are equipped with the latest skills and knowledge to serve our community with excellence. Throughout the year, we host a series of training sessions tailored to the evolving needs of law enforcement professionals. Officers of all experience levels— including those from other departments— are welcome to join us in these sessions, which aim to promote collaboration, enhance public safety, and uphold the highest standards of service.
